places for walking

i went on a brief retreat with some good folks from the local chapter of Graduate Christian Fellowship this weekend. a little bit of hiking happened there.

additionally, i dropped by walden ponds wildlife habitat in east boulder this evening. it's a reclaimed gravel mine that is now a protected wetlands area that apparently has some good birdwatching when the time is right. the time isn't right ten minutes after sunset, but i guess the time is alright for moody shots of boardwalks ten minutes after sunset.

bygone

i've managed to not post anything new in months. but then again, i've also managed to basically not create anything new in months, so it all comes out in the wash or whatever.

i basically have three small sets (or, rather, two small sets and one large set) of photos in this post. there are a few from a december snowshoe on the boundary of rocky mountain national park and the indian peaks wilderness, there are a lot from a pair of illinois state parks that i went hiking in with Melanie in january (giant city and little grand canyon), and there are a few of Ben and Elle Tyler (known also together as "The Bootlegger's Wife") making awesome east of eden-inspired music.

giant city includes a cave known as the fat man's squeeze. one can, while making oneself as thin as possible, bend around a 90 degree corner and climb out the back of the cave. after squeezing the fat man's squeeze (as one does), melanie auditioned for a wes anderson film in a larger cave.

n.b. rain is the best possible weather for being in little grand canyon.
