a silly pitch for corporate america.

There aren’t many pictures here, and they aren’t awesome, but i’m going to give them their own post. It’s a slightly ashamed shameless promotion, i suppose.

i have been following the abc show ‘Expedition Impossible’ lately. Normally, i wouldn’t watch such a show in any possible world that i can imagine, but i have really enjoyed it. i was hooked on the show by my friend Jeff. i met Jeff at a presentation at REI a few months ago, in which he discussed adventure filmmaking. Jeff is a contestant in ‘Expedition Impossible.’

A more exhaustive account of how i came to be interested in all of this can be found in the captions in the vicinity of this picture. At least until anonymous destroys facebook on November 5 (guess i should start backing up old captions…). Gunpowder! Treason! Plot!

Jeff watches each new episode at a bar in downtown Boulder called the Lazy Dog, and invites one and all to join him. i have done so every week since the second episode, and have really enjoyed the experience.

So here are a few pictures from last Thursday’s show. i found myself sitting behind Jeff for most of the night, but it was an angle that i hadn’t really had during previous episodes, and i liked some of the perspectives that it had to offer.

The hand hanging over Jeff’s shoulder in the following picture belongs to Jace, Jeff’s son. Jace is usually around at the viewings, and he is usually the (rightful) object of lots of his father’s attention.

Two episodes remain in Expedition Impossible. Team No Limits—Jeff’s team, has had a rough go of it in the past two episodes, but they’re hanging in there. A team member seriously injured his ankle, and so the team has been basically unable to jog at any time since in the competition. In spite of this, they have been a model of teamwork and class, encouraging to and supportive of each other even when falling badly behind the rest of the pack. The last two episodes should be exciting and interesting—if you don’t have anything better to do at 8pm (mountain time) on the next two Thursdays, i would recommend the show: at the very least to watch one of my friends do awesome things in Morocco with two of his friends.

i’ll post pictures from Expedition Impossible another time or two before the season ends—i’ll devote most of those posts to promoting some of the non-profits that Jeff and his friends have been supporting rather than to promoting the show itself.
