refrain

Nighttime would be a beautiful time of the day if not for the fact that nighttime takes place at night.

The first three are from the aforementioned retreat outside of Estes Park. i have versions of each taken at different speeds--i went with the quicker shutter speed for the first one because the blurred clouds just weren't a very good look for the picture, and everything is at a sufficient depth to look pretty sharp at 2.8. i couldn't decide whether to go with a lot of stationary stars or a few rotating stars for the other shot, and decided just to upload both versions.

i lived 3200 feet above Boulder for a few weeks in 2010, before i decided to get involved in the most destructive wildfire in Colorado state history. The commute was pretty long (a touch under 25 minutes from my house to the edge of Boulder), but it was a beautiful commute, and the views from my house were amazing. The night i moved, i stood on the side of the winding dirt road within 100 yards of my house and looked down on thunderstorms rolling across the plains into Kansas. Sometimes i drive back up there to take pictures and love life. i did that to ward off some stress in early November. The last five are from an overlook about a mile and a half from my old house. The book was Anna Karenina, and i enjoyed it.

i miss the tree outside of Aplao, Peru.
